Indian-origin 13-year-old Won US Young Scientist Challenge 2016
Maanasa Mendu, a 13-year-old Ohio-based Indian-American girl, has developed a renewable energy harnessing device that costs $5.
Dubbed as ‘Harvest’, the device uses solar cells coupled with a piezoelectric material to harness energy from the sun, rain, and wind.
Mendu’s design, which she wants to develop for commercial use in developing countries, won her the 2016 US Young Scientist Challenge.
