Be a Sports Manager With this new course

Sports education has become a necessary thing in order to prepare sportspersons in the future. Hence, sports-related business ventures are now opting for sports management education. This is a calculative move to nurture sports manager by promoting industry driven sports management education.

What is it?

Mumbai-based Global Institute of Sports Business (GISB) has taken a leap faith to conquer this objective. They are offering a 15-month long Sports Management course which will focus on individual growth, foster student employment and generate impact for this sector.

 

About the Course

A full-time 20-unit course specializing in sports management has been certified by Spain-based Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (ISDE).

The institute claims to create India’s first internationally certified Sports Management course and bring together academic curriculum combined with industry engagement. The programme will start on October 8, 2018.

 

How will it help you?

Joy Bhattacharjya, GISB Faculty, who is also a veteran in sports and media industry, said, “People in India have great interest in sports but there are people in the industry who lack quality and education. Students wanting to make a career in this field go to foreign universities, spend money and are disappointed when they find no job back home.”

He added, “With this course, we expect to bring sports professionals, who are still working in the industry, to mentor students and teach them all the aspects of the industry from managing a team to getting a sponsor for a player.”

Bhattacharjya said, “The institute has been established to address the growing demand for professionals with relevant educational background to join global sports industry.”

 

How will it be done?

All modules will be taught by individuals with sports industry experience and leading international and domestic sports organizations.

The course will also give an opportunity to students to visit the UK to work for one of the world’s biggest sports organizations.

Bhattacharjya said that the sports industry in India has changed but a lot needs to be done. “The government has started initiatives but still needs to invest more in sports and spread awareness about various sports.”

The course module includes Communication Skills, Organisational Behaviour & Culture, Awareness & Self – Development, Decision Making, MS Office Proficiency, Sports Organisation, Sports Law, Sports Product, Sports Finance and Accounting, Sports Strategy Event, Venue & Facilities Management Broadcast, Media & Communication Athlete Acquisition & Management and Capstone Art of Negotiation Retail Sales Leadership.

Bachelor’s degree, diploma or equivalent

Exceptions can be made for individuals with relevant sports experience
