India’s Aakanksha Hagawane won the girls’ U-16 title at the World Youth Chess Championships in Russia. The 15-year-old, who won gold in the U-16 Commonwealth Championships earlier this year, finished with nine points from 11 games, winning eight matches, losing one and drawing two. Javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia became the first Indian to win two Paralympic gold medals, winning his second with a world record throw in the F46 javelin event at the Rio Paralympics on Tuesday. Indian teen golfer Shubham Jaglan recently clinched his maiden European Junior Championship held at the Craigielaw Golf Club in Longniddry, Scotland. The 11-year-old had finished as the runner-up at the same event last year.
