Mock Model United Nations

In a bid to secure a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for India, a non-political network of 16 to 24-year-old students recently organised a peace march in Mumbai.

The network, Indian International MUN (IIMUN), invited over 65,000 residents to participate in the march.  The march led to the inauguration of a youth conference that aimed to create awareness about the importance of securing a permanent place in the UNSC.

Over 10,000 people signed a petition regarding the seat which the Indian government is expected to pass on to the UN.

Over 7,500 students of class VIII to X from over 150 schools across India participated in the conference.

The organisation has also scheduled a model conference in the premises of the UN headquarters, New York, on August 15 this year.  Over 400 Indian students are expected to participate in the conference.
